Pioneer of American Eyewear
[American Optical]
Abbreviated as "FG-58," this model
refers to the "Flight Goggle 1958,"
an immortal masterpiece produced
to strict US military specifications
and officially adopted/supplied to
both the Air Force and the Navy.
An iconic masterpiece of the
aviator sunglass style, even today.
While not a 12KGF specification, this is
a 1970s vintage piece that, unlike
modern versions, has no visible
AO logos on the exterior.
This is the famous model worn by
Robert De Niro in the movie
"TAXI DRIVER."
Enjoy the timeless and luxurious quality
built by the pioneer of the finished,
classic aviator style that remains
unchanged in the modern era.
Engravings:
Bridge underside (AO)
Temples (5 1/2 AO, AMERICAN OPTICAL)
*Unused deadstock, kept in storage.
While most surviving examples have
yellowed nose pads, this is a rare
pristine find that remained tucked away
with no discoloration.
There is a very faint 5mm hairline scratch
on the edge of the right lens likely
caused by storage in the case, but it
is outside of the line of sight (see photo below).
The chrome surface retains its original luster.
Features the precious spatulatemple design.
Enjoy the good old American workmanship
that cannot be replicated by today's technology.
